Stop complaining about r5 armour for Eotn!!
Seriosly, it isnt that much grind getting to rank5. R10 is grind but r5 isn't that hard. What is the point of elite armour if it is only elite because of the money rather than achievement, personally I think more elite armour should like FOW/Eotn. Anyone agree?
Note: R5 is no grind at all 2 months of just doing quests and doing that 25 kill buff thing while doing them!!

I'm not complaining about it, I'm just ignoring it because "elite" armor should require you to actually accomplish something "elite" revolving around skill.
Your ability to grind outside of the Eye of the North is not skill. Therefore, "elite" armor is a misnomer, IMHO. As such, I have no interest in obtaining it and I'm not impressed by anybody who has it. My annoyance and complaint regarding it extends only so far as it took ANET time to put the title grinds in place and test them, taking away from the possibility of actual game content.
Yes, but not me. Really, most people outside this site just don't care one way or another.

Agreed. Complete the game and do a few quests, and you have Rank 5. Such an achievement deserves to be rewarded with some Prestige Armor.

agreed, stop the QQ about grind and whatnot, do the quests and get the bounties and you will have the r5 in pretty much no time, especially if you turn in a book for that set of reputation you want.

Dunno if you guys really understand why people dont like having the r5 title to get the armor.
When you have lots of chars 7+ do you really want to beat eotn 7 times just to get an armor you like on one char? I sure as hell don't if I played that much eotn I would get so bored and just not play it anymore.

Ya I have at least r5 in Norn, Deldrimor, and Asuran. I think I'm r4 in the vanguard, and I think my Norn and Asuran are really r6's or so. Point being it isn't hard as I don't go "farm" points. However, the armor totally blows. I think all the "skins" for the armor suck and won't be buying any myself. Not that it would matter, as I have the armors I like on the characters I play.
Ranger -> Obsidian
Warrior -> Kurzick 15k
Monk -> Vabbian
Dervish -> Primeval
Only other I may want is Obsidian for Paragon, but I rarely ever play my para so, probably not going to happen.

And I only made it to rank 4 dwarf, 4 norn, and 3 asura following the storyline. Anecdotes ftl.

And how might that happen, save perhaps in cases where the level 3 character is an alt of a more accomplished character that already earned the armor anyway?
Or are you confusing "elite" armor and the standard max armor?

This has nothing to do with the thread at question.
Also, one book = enough points for R5 Tbh ( assuming you played the EotN the first time!)
One book = 5 Hours ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM. = Half of a Saturday..oh noez whatever will we do to cram the rest of out busy lives into the other few precious minutes we get.

You found 2 months of quests in EotN? Wow, you must have a very special edition.

Ever think of concentrating on just a few characters and not every single one the game has to offer ? There's three chapters and an expansion and you want to do it all with every character or close to that ? Well you do the math on the time required for that.
Not meant as a jab but if you pick you favorites and work on them I think you'll find you can accomplish a bit more.

Grind?!?!
It's not even a grind anymore.
Back when handing in a tome gave you 2K to one Race. back then it was a grind. It took me a long time to get it. Now it's easy.

Most of us will end up doing the same quest/mission multiple times when helping friends/alliance anyway, so just take a book. Doesn't mean you have to grind, you're having fun with friends anyway.

And no level 3 is going to be able to unless they're an alt of a more accomplished character. You need 75 plat alone, never mind the resources.
Which, if true, makes it not elite.
I'm waiting for the days when we have an MMO that truly requires some skill to do things so that earning in-game accolades means you actually did something skillful rather than just devoted an inordinate chunk of time to your computer screen.
Guild Wars takes a nice, big step away from the lame "fire-and-forget" mechanic of typical MMOs, but it's still a ways off, especially with PvE.
Better AI in games in general would be nice, actually...
